Trump forced to delete post following backlash

Former US President Donald Trump was forced to delete a post on his Truth Social account 19 hours after it was published, following backlash over certain phrases used in a video that depicted him as having won the 2024 US presidential election.

The inclusion of the phrase "Unified Reich" in the video led to comments suggesting he was emulating Nazi Germany, and posts highlighting similarities to "racist and antisemitic" language found in Nazi leader Adolf Hitler's book, Mein Kampf, forced Trump to backtrack.

The post, which was prepared as if Trump had won the presidential election, included headlines such as "What happens after Donald Trump wins?" and "Industrial strength significantly increased with a Unified Reich," as well as a statement that 15 million illegal immigrants would be deported, all of which were criticized by members of the Democratic Party.

US President Joe Biden's campaign spokesperson, James Singer, stated on the social media platform X, "Donald Trump is not playing games; he is telling America exactly what he plans to do if he regains power: rule as a dictator over a unified reich."

Trump's campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated to the US media, "This was not a campaign video, it was created by a random account online and reposted by a staffer who clearly did not see the word, while the President was in court."

Trump has previously faced criticism for his "extreme rhetoric" and for allegedly using language in his speeches similar to that found in Hitler's Mein Kampf.
