Trump had tried to ban it: Election campaign move from Kamala Harris
Vice President Kamala Harris, who became the Democratic nominee after U.S. President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, has begun using the social media platform TikTok for her presidential campaign.
U.S. presidential candidate Kamala Harris has taken her election campaign to TikTok.
According to a report on the American CNBC website, Harris posted a video on her TikTok account, "@kamalaharris".
In the video she shared on TikTok for her campaign ahead of the November 5 presidential election, Harris stated, "I've heard that my videos have been appearing on the TikTok For You page lately. So, I thought I would join the platform myself."
Harris has more than 2.5 million followers.
On Sunday, July 21, Biden announced in a statement on his X account that he was withdrawing from the presidential race and recommended Vice President Harris to replace him.
TRUMP HAD ALSO OPENED A TIKTOK ACCOUNT
Former U.S. President Donald Trump also joined TikTok in June, a platform he had tried to ban during his presidency citing national security concerns.
Trump, who used the phrase "It is an honor to be here" in his video, saw his account's follower count exceed one million shortly after it was opened.
