Trump: 'I do not want a civil war, we could send more troops to Los Angeles'

U.S. President Donald Trump made significant statements on the economy, social welfare reforms, border security, foreign policy, and national security during a comprehensive press conference held with his cabinet at the White House. While the main agenda of the meeting was the "Invest America Act" bill and the "Trump Accounts" program, Trump also addressed the protests in Los Angeles, trade relations with China, negotiations with Iran, the recent tension with Elon Musk, and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Trump announced that with the new program called "Trump Accounts," the federal government will provide a starting contribution of one thousand dollars to an investment account linked to a stock market index for every American citizen born between December 31, 2024, and January 1, 2029. These accounts will be managed by the child's parents or guardians and will be open to annual contributions from third parties such as family, employers, private foundations, and churches.

"WE COULD SEND MORE TROOPS TO LOS ANGELES"

Regarding the protests in Los Angeles, Trump directly targeted California Governor Gavin Newsom, stating, "They didn't dare to do anything, we sent the National Guard." Accusing Newsom of "losing control of the state," Trump characterized the threat of a lawsuit that Newsom plans to file against federal authority as "ridiculous and political."

When asked by a journalist what crimes Newsom had committed, Trump said, "I think his primary crime is being a candidate for governor, because he did a very bad job."

Expressing that he does not want a civil war, Trump said, "I do not want a civil war, we could send more troops to Los Angeles if necessary."

When asked whether Marines would be deployed to California, Trump replied, "We'll see what happens. I think everything is under our control."

The U.S. press had alleged that the Trump administration would deploy 500 Marines due to the protests.

"HUMANITARIAN NEGOTIATIONS ARE ONGOING"

Stating that intense diplomatic negotiations are being conducted with Hamas, Israel, and Iran to ensure humanitarian aid crossings in Gaza, Trump said, "We want to get the hostages back. This is a complex but very important process. We hope to get results soon. Gaza is currently in the middle of a big bargain between us, Hamas, Israel, and Iran."

Touching upon Israel's military operations in the region, Trump said, "We are looking for a solution so that the situation does not turn into further destruction."

"CHINA HAS BEEN RIPPING OFF AMERICA FOR YEARS"

Regarding the ongoing trade negotiations with China, Trump said, "We are doing well right now. To be honest, China has been ripping off America for years. Thanks to the tariffs we implemented during my first term, we collected hundreds of billions of dollars." Emphasizing that new trade agreements with China must be "fair and sustainable," Trump evaluated the outcome of the current talks with optimism.

"THEY ARE COMING TO THE TABLE WITH UNACCEPTABLE DEMANDS"

In his statement regarding the ongoing indirect nuclear negotiations with Iran, Trump said that the Tehran administration is making demands that are impossible for the U.S. to accept. Trump announced that a new meeting will be held on Thursday, stating, "They don't want to give up their (uranium) enrichment programs. This is unacceptable. The alternative would be much worse, but we haven't lost hope for a deal either."

"THESE STATEMENTS ARE A LONG-OVERDUE CHANGE OF ATTITUDE"

Trump also made statements regarding the tension between him and Elon Musk. Addressing Musk's comments that "Trump should be impeached," Trump said, "These statements are a long-overdue change of attitude. How was he when he was doing business with me, and what is he saying now? I don't care." When asked if he was considering talking to Musk, Trump said, "Actually, I haven't thought about it at all. If I were in his shoes, I would want to talk to me. But I don't have a problem with it."
