Trump: 'Iran has agreed not to possess nuclear weapons'
Donald Trump announced that as a result of an agreement reached with Iran, the Tehran administration has abandoned its plans to develop nuclear weapons.
US President Donald Trump announced in a social media post that the Iranian administration has officially committed to "never acquiring nuclear weapons." Trump emphasized that this development marks a significant turning point in US-Iran relations.
In his post, Trump also denied allegations that the US had made a 300 million dollar payment to Iran, stating, "Also, the news that the US paid 300 million dollars to Iran is fake news fabricated by the Democrats."
Upon arriving in Geneva, Switzerland, for the G7 Summit, Trump met with French President Emmanuel Macron. In his remarks to the press, the US President stated that ensuring Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons is the top priority, and reiterated the importance of terminating the previous agreement, which he considered dangerous for the US, in light of the new consensus reached on this issue.
Trump said: "That was the main thing because they probably would have used it if they had it. It was very important that I terminated the deal that Obama signed because it was a path to a nuclear weapon. It was a terrible deal for the US."
