Trump makes statement after negotiations with Iran: 'Hormuz commitment not fulfilled'
No consensus emerged from the 21-hour US-Iran talks in Islamabad. In the first statement from the Washington administration following the meetings, US President Donald Trump evaluated the process by saying, "Iran did not keep its word on Hormuz."
In direct talks held in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, US and Iranian delegations sat down to discuss various issues, including critical topics such as the Strait of Hormuz and nuclear warheads. However, the delegations of the two countries could not reach a common ground at the end of the negotiations.
US Vice President JD Vance, who led the American delegation, announced in a statement that the negotiations concluded without reaching an expected agreement. Iranian state television, on the other hand, emphasized that the demands put forward by the US were unacceptable, which prevented an agreement.
While developments regarding the negotiations resonated with the international public, US President Donald Trump made a statement shortly after the outcome became clear.
Trump clearly stated his position on the talks by using the phrase, "Iran did not keep its word on Hormuz."
