Trump rejects Iran's 7-day ceasefire offer: Proposal for Hormuz is unacceptable

US President Donald Trump announced that he has rejected a 7-day ceasefire offer submitted by Iran through intermediaries to reopen shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking to reporters in the White House garden before departing for the state of Tennessee, Trump stated that Iran's proposal was unacceptable.

When asked by a reporter, "Will you strike Iran after the midterm elections?", Trump replied, "I reject the offer they proposed. They want to make a deal to open Hormuz as soon as possible because they are getting beaten very badly."

Trump noted that both Washington and Tehran want to reach an agreement, but added, "However, the offer Iran made is unacceptable."

Arguing that Iran aimed to create global pressure by closing the Strait of Hormuz, Trump claimed that the US has implemented a strict blockade in response. Trump said, "They defeated themselves. I stepped in and we implemented the greatest blockade in military history. Do you know what happened? They have no money left; because they wanted to close the Strait, and we did this to them."
