WHO IS TOM BARRACK?

Tom Barrack, who comes from a family of Lebanese origin, was born in the US state of California. The 77-year-old Barrack completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California before receiving his law degree from the University of San Diego.

The grandson of a Christian family that immigrated to the US from the city of Zahle, Lebanon, in 1900, Barrack grew up in Culver City, Los Angeles. His father worked as a grocer and his mother as a secretary.

Interested in rugby during his youth, Barrack worked as a lawyer in Saudi Arabia. In the 1980s, he served as Deputy Undersecretary of the Interior under the Ronald Reagan administration. During the same period, he was a neighbor to the 40th US President, Reagan, at the Rancho del Cielo ranch in California.
