Trump states he is open to high-level talks with Iran

United States President Donald Trump gave important messages regarding the diplomatic process being conducted with Iran in a statement to the New York Post newspaper.

Trump stated, “If progress is made, they are ready to meet with high-level Iranian officials. My Vice President JD Vance and our negotiating team are on their way and will arrive in Islamabad within hours.

We are planning to hold talks with Iran; at this stage, I assume that no one should be playing games. My Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner are currently on their way to Pakistan.

The essence of the negotiations is based on a single non-negotiable demand: that Iran completely abandon nuclear weapons,” he said.

ASSESSMENT OF THE NEW DIPLOMATIC INITIATIVE

Trump's statements signal that a new diplomatic window could be opening following the recent increase in tensions in U.S.-Iran relations. It was emphasized that at the core of the negotiations, the United States is prioritizing its demand for Iran to completely terminate its nuclear program.

The U.S. delegation is led by Vice President JD Vance. Vance is accompanied by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The delegation is expected to be in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, shortly, and it was stated that diplomatic contacts will begin from there.

It is noted that these contacts could create new opportunities to lower regional tensions and initiate a solution-oriented dialogue between the two countries.
