Trump threatens Iran

As protests triggered by rising inflation in Iran continue across the country, the events have taken on a new dimension. In a statement on a social media platform, US President Donald Trump said, “If Iran shoots and violently kills peaceful protesters as usual, the US will come to their aid. Our weapons are ready, we are ready to fire.”

During the demonstrations, tension in the city of Azna in Lorestan province resulted in the deaths of three people, bringing the total death toll in the events to four. It was reported that at least 17 people were injured in Lorestan.

According to local sources, a group of protesters entered a police station yesterday evening, followed by clashes with security forces. It was reported that stones were thrown by protesters during the incidents and some police vehicles were set on fire.

In the city of Malard in Tehran province, 30 people were detained during yesterday's protests. Mansour Saleki, Deputy Governor of Malard, stated that investigations revealed some of the detainees had come from neighboring districts, adding that the suspects are under the supervision of security units and that legal proceedings against them are ongoing. Saleki also stated that other individuals identified as having links to the incidents are being sought and that investigations are continuing.

Another development came from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. On the fourth day of the ongoing protests in Lorestan province, it was announced that security force member Amir Hossein Khodayarifard had lost his life. The statement from the military said, “A security force member lost his life as a result of sudden and violent actions by opportunistic elements affiliated with enemy groups. These elements infiltrated the people's protests, distorted the environment, and exploited it.”
