Trump to set his own deadline for ceasefire process with Iran

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified claims that United States President Donald Trump had set a specific deadline for a potential agreement with Iran.

Leavitt stated that reports in the American and Israeli press do not reflect the facts, that Trump has not set any deadline, and that all decisions on this matter are under the authority of the US President.

In her remarks to members of the press, Leavitt said, "The President has not set a definitive deadline for receiving a proposal from Iran, contrary to some reports I have seen today; this matter will be determined by the US President." Leavitt also clearly denied the claim that Tehran had been given a few days to submit a proposal for an agreement.

Emphasizing that Trump will not relinquish control over the process being conducted with Iran, Leavitt stated, "I am not announcing any such deadline on behalf of the US President either. The final decision rests directly with President Trump."

Leavitt further noted that President Trump has granted a certain level of flexibility to Iran and that they are expecting a definitive and comprehensive proposal from the Tehran administration. She added that the red lines Trump has set regarding the Iran file are clear.
