Trump: We cannot share our plan regarding Iran with allies in the Gulf

US President Donald Trump made statements to the US-based Fox News regarding his country's plans for Iran and reports in the press that allies from Gulf countries had not been briefed on these plans. Trump said, "We cannot share our plan regarding Iran with our allies in the Gulf. Explaining the plan to them would be as bad as explaining it to you. Maybe even worse. But look, here is the plan; Iran is talking to us and we will see if something can be done about it. Otherwise, we will see what happens. There is a massive fleet heading that way. A fleet larger than the one in Venezuela," he said.

Commenting on statements from Gulf allies that Iran is always ready for negotiations but it is unclear what the outcome would be, Trump said, "That's true, they are negotiating and we will see what happens. You know, the last time they sat down to negotiate, it didn't work and we had to destroy their nuclear capacity. We had to do it in a different way. We will see what happens," he said.

"Everything will be fine regarding the shutdown"

Addressing the partial government shutdown in the US, which occurred because the temporary budget providing funding to federal agencies was passed by the Senate but has not yet been approved by the House of Representatives, the other chamber of Congress, Trump said, "I think everything will be fine." Trump stated, "I don't think the Democrats want something like this to happen. Because it damages their image and it is not a good thing for the country either. Therefore, I hope enough people will use their common sense," he expressed.

Claim of "We could not get full clarity from the US"

In reports previously published in the US press and attributed to a high-level official from a Gulf country, it was claimed that the US did not share its plans regarding Iran with its allies. The report stated that the high-level official in question had made a request to the American side, saying, "We want to ensure that the US understands our position and our general assessment. At the same time, we want to understand the US assessment as clearly as possible."

The report included the words of the unnamed high-level official, who said, "We requested full clarity from the US, but we could not obtain it."

Trump had said, "A massive fleet is on the way"

US President Trump announced on January 26 that a "massive fleet" was on its way toward Iran and repeated these remarks several times. Trump also demanded that Iran sit at the negotiating table and completely abandon nuclear weapons.

Iran responded to this US demand with the threat that in the event of an attack, the military infrastructure of the US and its allies in the Middle East would be targeted.
