Trump: Zelensky also wants peace, just like Putin
US President Donald Trump stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also "wants peace," just like Russian President Vladimir Putin, and that he believes negotiations between the parties will be positive.
US President Trump held a phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky following his conversation with Russian President Putin.
Making a statement about the call on the Truth Social platform, Trump noted that his conversation with Zelensky went very well.
Trump stated, "He (Zelensky) also wants peace, just like President Putin. We discussed various issues regarding the war and talked about the meeting to be held in Munich on Friday, where Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead the delegation. I am hopeful that the results of this meeting will be positive."
Emphasizing that the Russia-Ukraine War is "a completely unnecessary death and destruction" and that this war must now end, Trump used the expression, "May God protect the people of Russia and Ukraine."
Following his phone call with Russian President Putin, US President Trump had announced that they had agreed with Russia to begin negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
