Trump's first interview after assassination attempt: Here is the moment that saved the former president
Former US President Donald Trump gave his first interview following the assassination attempt against him. Trump stated that he could have died if he had not turned his head slightly to the right to read a chart about illegal immigrants.
Former US President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was targeted in an armed attack at a campaign rally he held in Pennsylvania.
Trump, who was wounded in the ear, gave his first interview after the assassination attempt to the New York Post newspaper.

As reported by Hürriyet, Trump, who described the assassination attempt as 'surreal', refused to pose wearing a bandage covering his right ear.
THE MOMENT THAT SAVED TRUMP: 'IF I HAD NOT TURNED MY HEAD SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT...'
"The doctor at the hospital told me he had never seen anything like this before, that it was a miracle. I shouldn't have been here, I should have been dead," said Trump, adding that this could have happened if he had not turned his head slightly to the right to read a chart about illegal immigrants. Explaining that he wanted to continue his speech after being shot but that Secret Service agents did not allow it because it was not 'safe', Trump described how the agents rushed to his side like defensive players as soon as the gunshots were heard.
THE SHOE MYSTERY SOLVED
Showing the large bruise on his right forearm by unbuttoning his shirt, the former president also cleared up the mystery regarding his shoes. In the footage released yesterday, Trump could be heard insisting on getting his shoes back after the attack.
Trump explained the situation as follows:
"The agents jumped on me so hard to save me that my shoes fell off, and believe me, my shoes were quite tight."
Praising the Secret Service personnel for their heroic actions, Trump said, "They did a heroic job."
"YOU USUALLY HAVE TO DIE FOR AN ICONIC PHOTO"
Speaking about the photo of him with his face covered in blood and his fist in the air, the former president said, "Many people say it is the most iconic photo they have ever seen. They are right, and I didn't die. Usually, you have to die for an iconic photo." He also recalled the hospital doctor saying he had never seen anyone survive after being hit with an AR-15.
"I HAD PREPARED A TOUGH SPEECH BUT I THREW IT IN THE TRASH"
Announcing that he is considering attending the funeral of the firefighter who lost his life in the attack, the former president stated that he changed the speech he was going to give in Milwaukee after coming face-to-face with death, saying, "I had prepared an extremely tough speech, but I threw it in the trash; our country is divided, and I want to unite them." Trump noted that he was pleased that Biden called him.
