Trump's move on Mehmet Oz: He has nominated him

US President-elect Trump announced in a statement on his Truth Social social media platform account that he has nominated Dr. Oz to be the Director of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Trump stated that America is facing a serious health crisis and that there is no doctor more qualified than Oz to deal with these issues.

Making references to Dr. Oz's educational life, which began at Harvard University, and his career, Trump emphasized that Oz could solve many problems within the American healthcare system.

In the US, Medicare is a federal health insurance program that provides health services to seniors over the age of 65. Medicaid operates as a joint federal and state program that provides health insurance services to low-income groups.

In 2023, the US federal government spent 860 billion dollars under the Medicaid program and 848 billion dollars under Medicare.
