Trump's statement on Iran: We have had very good talks in the last 24 hours

US President Donald Trump hosted famous UFC fighters in the Oval Office ahead of a cage fighting event he will organize in the White House garden on June 14, as part of his birthday and the 250th anniversary celebrations of US independence.

Hosting UFC fighters Alex Pereira, Ciryl Gane, Justin Gaethje, and Ilia Topuria in the Oval Office, Trump said the show to be held in the giant arena to be set up on June 14 would be the "most magnificent show on earth."

Stating that eight giant screens will be set up for the free event and that there will be 75 thousand to 100 thousand people in the park right across from the White House, Trump said, "There will be 4 thousand seats right here in front of the White House front door. This is the hardest ticket I've ever gotten. It will be the best live show in the world. It will be the most magnificent show on earth."

"I think we won"

Taking questions from members of the press during the program, Trump rejected a reporter's claim that "Iran refuses to surrender." Trump said, "Why do you say they refuse to surrender? You don't know that. You don't know what's going on."

When the reporter reminded him that Iran had fired on American ships a few days ago, Trump said, "A few days is a long time ago in the world of war. No. They desperately want to make a deal. We'll see if we can get to that point. If we do, they won't have nuclear weapons. It's very simple. But what does it mean not to surrender? They had a navy of 159 ships and now every ship is shattered and lying at the bottom of the water. They had an air force and many planes. They have no planes left. They have no air defenses. They have no radars at all. Their missiles have been largely destroyed. There is probably about 18, 19 percent left, but it's very little compared to what they had before. All their leaders are dead. Therefore, I think we won," he said.

"It seems possible that we could reach an agreement"

Stating that "the US is in a good position against Iran," Trump said, "We are doing well and we must get what we need to get. If that doesn't happen, we will have to take a much bigger step. But they want to make a deal, and we have had very good talks in the last 24 hours. It seems possible that we could reach an agreement."

When asked about the status of the talks, Trump replied, "We have talks, and as you know, we have had good talks before. Then suddenly the next day it's as if they forgot what happened."

"Even if the oil price had gone up to 200 dollars, it would have been worth it"

Saying that they saw the market rise while expecting it to fall by 20 percent due to the attacks on Iran, Trump said, "The stock market is higher now than it was when we started the war. I thought the price of oil (per barrel) would go up to 200-250 dollars. It is 100 dollars right now. But even if the oil price had gone up to 200 dollars, it would have been worth it."

"Iran will not have nuclear weapons, they accepted this"

Trump said, "Iran cannot and will not have nuclear weapons. They accepted this along with other things." When asked if he had a message for Pope Leo XIV, the spiritual leader of Catholics, whom US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to meet tomorrow, Trump replied, "He, I think, was saying that Iran could have nuclear weapons. But I say they cannot. Because if they do, the whole world will be held hostage. We will not allow that to happen. That is my only message."

"There is never a deadline"

Trump also received a question about whether there was any deadline for Iran to reach an agreement. In his response, the US President said, "There is never a deadline. This will happen, but there is never a deadline."

Stating that the US also entered Venezuela and won very quickly, Trump said, "Something great happened for Venezuela. People are really happy and they are dancing in the streets. Because a lot of money is coming in. Thanks to the biggest oil companies."
