Trump's striking remarks about Erdoğan at the Gaza Summit: 'I like tough people more'
Speaking at the Gaza Summit held in Egypt, US President Trump used striking expressions regarding AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan.
While leaders from numerous countries attended the Gaza Summit, a step taken for peace in the Middle East, striking images and statements are emerging from the summit.
Trump, who was the last leader to arrive at the summit, shook hands with the leaders who had come to Egypt one by one and posed for a group photo.
Following the 'goodwill' signature, Donald Trump made statements regarding the summit and used the following expressions about AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan in his opening speech:
"I want to talk about another person who has been my friend for a long time.
For some reason, I like tough people more than soft, easy people.
Maybe this is a personality flaw, I don't know.
But this gentleman from the place called Turkey has one of the most powerful armies in the world.
Actually, the army is even more powerful than most people think.
If you look at some of the recent conflicts, he was always on the front lines — and he was winning, too.
But even when he won, he didn't boast, he didn't ask for any credit.
He just wants to be left alone.
He is truly a 'tough guy,' but he is my friend.
And whenever I needed him, he was always by my side.
That is why I want to thank President Erdoğan."
