Turkey rift between America and Israel

US Vice President JD Vance and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the challenges of the peace process in Gaza during their meeting in Jerusalem.

Vance stated that peace could open the door to new alliances for Israel in the Middle East. Emphasizing that issues such as the disarmament of Hamas and the reconstruction of Gaza are priorities, Vance drew attention to the importance of international cooperation in this process.

The international force planned to ensure security in Gaza and Turkey's potential role in this force were also brought up during the meeting. Netanyahu stated that they would make decisions on this matter in consultation with the US.

Vance, on the other hand, expressed that Turkey could play a constructive role in Gaza, recalling that Turkey has undertaken such constructive roles in the past as well.

Stating that US President Donald Trump's Gaza plan would play a critical role in paving the way for the Abraham Accords, Vance said that this plan would contribute to the formation of a new alliance structure in the Middle East. Netanyahu stated that they are developing a new vision for the future of Gaza and that this vision is focused on peace and infrastructure.

Vance's praise for Turkey was interpreted in the Israeli press as Netanyahu opposing Turkey's participation in the international security force. The Israeli press claimed that there is also no warm reception toward Turkey's participation in the reconstruction of Gaza.
