UAE and Australia discuss Gaza

United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his Australian counterpart Penny Wong discussed the efforts being made to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to Israeli attacks for months.

According to a written statement from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al Nahyan and Wong held a phone conversation.

During the call, the ministers addressed the international community's efforts to achieve a sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as well as developments in the Middle East region and their implications.

ACCORDING TO HUMAN RIGHTS LAW...

Emphasizing that the priority is to provide protection to all civilians in accordance with international human rights law, the discussion noted the need to strengthen the response to the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

UAE Minister Al Nahyan warned that a further deterioration of the situation and an increase in tensions in the Middle East would threaten regional and international peace and security.

Al Nahyan underscored his country's support for all regional and international efforts aimed at ending extremism, tension, and rising violence in the region.

The ministers' phone call took place on the same day that the Israeli army issued warnings to Palestinians to forcibly evacuate certain neighborhoods in the east of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.
