UAE resumes diplomatic contacts with Lebanon

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has accelerated its efforts to reopen its embassy in Beirut. In a statement issued by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was announced that a delegation had been sent to Lebanon as part of the preparation process.

The statement noted that UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed had issued instructions for the reopening of the embassy following a phone call with Lebanese President Michel Aoun.

The statement included the expression, "This step symbolizes the strengthening of the fraternal ties between the two countries and their peoples."

RELATIONS HAD COMPLETELY HALTED IN 2021

In October 2021, the UAE withdrew its diplomats from Beirut and banned its citizens from traveling to Lebanon following remarks by Lebanese Information Minister George Kordahi targeting Saudi Arabia regarding the situation in Yemen.
