Ukraine finds solution in prisons

According to the Ukrainian Parliament's website, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed the law regarding the voluntary enlistment of prisoners into the armed forces.

The law allows prisoners convicted of minor offenses to be voluntarily recruited into the army by court order, provided they sign a contract for military service.

Under the law, those convicted of premeditated murder, rape, sexual violence, and crimes against national security will not be eligible to serve in the military.

The Ukrainian parliament passed the law signed by Zelenskyy on May 9. It is estimated that between 15 thousand and 20 thousand prisoners could be recruited into the military in the country.
