UN: 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza lack access to birth services
The UN has reported that 50,000 pregnant women in the Gaza Strip are deprived of essential healthcare services.
According to a statement made by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on Twitter, 5,500 pregnant women in Gaza will give birth this month.
The statement, which noted that pregnant women in Gaza are in need of urgent protection and health monitoring, advised all parties to adhere to international human rights.
''THEY HAVE NOWHERE TO GO''
Meanwhile, speaking to the CNN television channel, UN Population Fund Director Dominic Allen said that the health system in Gaza is fragile and on the verge of collapse.
Allen stated, "We are deeply concerned for pregnant women. They have nowhere to go," attempting to convey the dire situation that pregnant women in Gaza are facing. Stating that "It is imperative that humanitarian aid be allowed into Gaza," Allen emphasized that pregnant women must have access to these life-saving health services.
