UN condemns the US
The United Nations (UN) has condemned the killing of a 6-year-old Palestinian-American Muslim boy, who was stabbed 26 times, and the wounding of his mother in Chicago, USA. Meanwhile, the US has launched an investigation into the atrocity.
UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric made a statement on the matter during his daily press briefing.
Recalling that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that "hate speech that fuels violence is unacceptable," Dujarric reminded that Guterres also called on all political leaders to refrain from anti-Islamic rhetoric.
Dujarric noted that social media companies also have a significant responsibility, stating that these companies must combat hate speech and messages of violence.
Expressing satisfaction that the suspect has been apprehended, Dujarric said, "It is difficult to even find the words to adequately condemn this crime."

Meanwhile, US Attorney General Merrick B. Garland stated that they have launched a federal hate crime investigation into the incident in Chicago where a 6-year-old Palestinian boy was killed with 26 stab wounds.
THE KILLING OF THE 6-YEAR-OLD PALESTINIAN BOY
In the Plainfield area southwest of Chicago, 71-year-old landlord Joseph M. Czuba attacked 32-year-old Palestinian mother Hanaan Shahin and her 6-year-old son Wadea Al-Fayoume with a knife in their home.
In a statement from the Will County Sheriff's Office, it was alleged that the motivation of Czuba, who stabbed the child 26 times, was "the child's and his mother's Muslim identity and the Israel-Palestine conflict."
While 6-year-old Wadea lost his life at the hospital where he was taken, it was announced that his mother's condition was serious.
US President Joe Biden, in a written statement, expressed that he was shocked by the news of the killing of the 6-year-old Muslim boy and the wounding of his mother in Chicago, stating, "This horrific act of hate has no place in America. It stands against our fundamental values."
Biden emphasized that Americans must come together and stand against Islamophobia and all forms of hate, and extended his condolences to the entire Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim American community, especially to the family of the 6-year-old boy who was killed.
