UN General Assembly calls for humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza
The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution calling for an "immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce" in Gaza and demanding an end to the hostilities.
As deeply distressing images continue to emerge from Gaza, which is under intense bombardment by Israel, world nations are issuing successive statements calling for Israel to halt its attacks targeting civilians.
While many heads of state have warned Israel regarding the attacks, an important call on this matter has also come from the United Nations.
The UN General Assembly has called for an "immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce" in Gaza.
As a result of the vote, the resolution demanding an end to the hostilities was adopted with 120 votes in favor.
