BIDEN HAD ANNOUNCED THE NEW PROPOSAL
US President Biden had announced at a press conference at the White House that Israel had put forward a new proposal regarding a ceasefire and hostages in Gaza.
Biden reported that Israel had presented a new three-phase ceasefire proposal, and that the first phase envisions a 6-week ceasefire during which Israel would withdraw from residential areas in Gaza and some of the hostages held by the parties would be released.
Stating that in the first phase, "Israeli forces will fully withdraw from residential areas in Gaza," Biden expressed that the process also envisions the release of hostages, primarily the elderly and women, and an increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza.
