Unexpected comment from Meloni on her AI-generated photo: 'At least they...'
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reacted to fake photos generated by artificial intelligence, emphasizing that deepfake technology poses a serious threat to both politicians and citizens. Meloni's remark, "At least they made me look better than I am," drew attention.
Italy's first female Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, made a statement regarding fake photos generated by artificial intelligence that have been circulating on the internet in recent days. Reacting to the presentation of these images as if they were real, Meloni drew attention to the misuse of technology for political purposes.
"AT LEAST THEY MADE ME LOOK BETTER THAN I AM"
Meloni stated, "In recent days, various photos of me, generated with artificial intelligence and presented as if they were real, have been circulating. I must admit that those who prepared these images, at least in the example I am sharing, made me look better than I am. However, the real issue is that every possible tool is now being used for the sake of producing lies and slander."

"DEEPFAKE IS A DANGEROUS WEAPON"
Emphasizing that the issue is not limited to the reputations of politicians, Meloni noted that ordinary citizens are also vulnerable to this technology. Describing deepfake as a "dangerous weapon," Meloni pointed to the importance of cybersecurity, saying, "As a Prime Minister, I can defend myself; however, many vulnerable citizens do not have this opportunity. Deepfake is a dangerous tool that can deceive, manipulate, and strike anyone. It can turn into a weapon that can ruin the lives of innocent people."
Issuing a warning to social media users, Meloni called on them to "verify before believing, and be sure of the accuracy before sharing."
