Unthinkable plan from 71-year-old man: He tried to kill his wife for months to marry her daughter

51-year-old Lisa Bishop, who lives in the US state of Indiana, reported her 71-year-old husband, Alfred Ruf, to the police in 2022, alleging that he was trying to poison her. The woman, who had been experiencing severe headaches, lethargy, and diarrhea for several months, tested positive for several drugs, including cocaine, but Bishop stated that she had not taken them knowingly.

Following the investigation, Ruf initially confessed to putting poison in his wife's beverages. Bishop later found a powdery substance in soda cans. Following these events, Ruf explained that he had poisoned his wife in order to marry her daughter.

According to a report by People, the man claimed to authorities that two other women, including Bishop's daughter, were involved in the incident. He also alleged that he was in a sexual relationship with Bishop's 31-year-old daughter. Ruf told authorities that it was his wife's daughter who provided him with the poison and that they had planned to kill Bishop.

According to court documents, Ruf will be sentenced to four years in prison followed by five years of probation. There are no official charges against his stepdaughter yet.
