US calls on Israel to investigate

The United States has reacted to the death of 5-year-old Palestinian Hind Rajab, who left her home with her uncle, aunt, and 5 cousins to escape Israeli bombardment, and whose body was found days later along with the 2 ambulance workers who had gone to rescue her.

US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a statement on the matter that his country has called on the Israeli government to investigate Rajab's death. “We have asked the Israeli authorities to investigate this incident urgently. We understand that they are doing so. We expect to see the results in a timely manner and for them to include appropriate accountability measures,” Miller said, adding, “We are devastated by the news of Hind Rajab's death.

I have a young daughter who is about to turn 6. So this is devastating and heartbreaking news,” he said. Reminding that thousands of children have died as a result of the conflict, Miller stated, “Each of these is a tragedy that I know everyone in the United States government feels deeply.”

THEIR BODIES WERE FOUND

5-year-old Hind Rajab left her home in Gaza with her uncle, aunt, and 5 cousins on January 29 to escape Israeli bombardment, and the vehicle they were using to flee was targeted by the Israeli army.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society, which reached Rajab via her uncle's phone after she lost all her relatives in the vehicle, had launched a rescue operation by sending an ambulance to the area.

No news could be heard for a long time from the paramedics who went to rescue Rajab. After the Israeli army withdrew from the region, the bodies of 5-year-old Rajab and the 2 ambulance workers who were trying to rescue her were found. In a statement made by the Palestine Red Crescent Society, it was stated that Israeli soldiers had deliberately targeted the ambulance trying to reach the vehicle where Rajab was located.
