US citizens to leave Gaza via Rafah Border Crossing

US President Biden also emphasized, "We will not stop working to get Americans out of Gaza."

MANY CITIZENS CROSSED THE BORDER

State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller also announced at the daily press briefing that there are "around 400 Americans in Gaza who are in contact with us and have expressed a desire to leave," and that "a number of American citizens have passed through the Rafah Border Crossing."

Spokesperson Miller noted that there are 400 US citizens who wish to leave the Gaza Strip, and that this number rises to around 1,000 when including their family members.

Stating, "We expect the departures of US citizens and foreign nationals to continue for the next few days," Miller indicated that they want to ensure all American citizens and their families leave Gaza "as safely as possible."

BLINKEN TO VISIT ISRAEL AND JORDAN

Spokesperson Matthew Miller shared the information that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Israel and Jordan on Friday.

Miller said, "Blinken will reiterate our support for Israel's right to defend itself in accordance with international humanitarian law, and will discuss the need to take all precautions to minimize civilian casualties, as well as our efforts to provide humanitarian aid."

''DURABLE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST WILL BE DISCUSSED''

Stating that during his visit to Jordan, US Secretary of State Blinken will emphasize the need to "facilitate the sustained delivery of life-saving humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza and ensure that Palestinians are not forcibly displaced from Gaza," Miller noted the following:

"He (Blinken) will also reaffirm the US commitment to working with partners to set the conditions for a durable and sustainable peace in the Middle East, to include the establishment of a Palestinian state that reflects the aspirations of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, and of course, will continue to discuss ongoing efforts to secure the release of all hostages."
