US: We are concerned about the rising tension between Israel and Hezbollah

The US administration has stated that it is concerned about the recent rise in tension between Israel and Hezbollah and that diplomatic channels must be used to prevent the conflict from escalating.

US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller assessed the rising tension between Israel and Hezbollah during a daily press briefing.

Miller emphasized that they are concerned about the messages from Israeli military officials stating that they are "ready to attack Hezbollah" and about the overall rise in tension in the region.

"We do not support an all-out war with Hezbollah. An escalation of this conflict is something we are concerned about, and we have been trying to keep it under control since October 7," Miller said, noting that while they are working for a ceasefire in Gaza, no one wants a regional conflict environment.

Pointing out that the periodically rising tension between Israel and Lebanon cannot be resolved through conflict, Miller stated that problems must be solved through diplomatic means.

TENSION BETWEEN ISRAEL AND HEZBOLLAH

Israeli Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi, referring to the tension with Hezbollah on the Lebanese border, had said, "We are approaching the point where a decision must be made, and the Israeli army is ready to go on the offensive."

Israel, which has been continuing its attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, is also clashing with Lebanon's Hezbollah on its northern border.

It has been reported that 325 Hezbollah members, 65 Lebanese civilians, 19 Amal Movement members, 13 Hamas members, 15 Islamic Jihad members, as well as 14 Israeli soldiers and 10 Israeli civilians have been killed in these clashes.
