US: We do not support Israel reoccupying Gaza
The US State Department announced that they do not support Israel reoccupying Gaza and that they have clearly communicated this to Israel.
US State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel answered questions from journalists at a press briefing.
Patel responded to a question regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's remarks that "they will assume security responsibility for Gaza after the war."
WE DO NOT SUPPORT OCCUPATION
Stating, "We do not support the reoccupation of Gaza by Israel," Patel noted that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had also clearly conveyed this to his counterparts during his visit to Israel.
On the other hand, Patel stated that it is not possible to return to the "status quo of October 6," arguing that Israel must be safe in the region and that Gaza must not be a base for "terrorist attacks.".
