US fighter jet intervenes against tanker violating Iran blockade

The US military announced that it has intervened against an unladen oil tanker off the coast of the Gulf of Oman for violating the blockade on Iranian ports.

In a statement from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), it was noted that the crew of the Palau-flagged "M/T Marivex" did not comply with the instructions of US forces and that the ship continued to sail toward Iranian ports.

As part of the intervention, an F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet took off from the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and fired precision-guided munitions at the ship's engine and rudder sections. The statement noted that the Marivex is no longer sailing toward Iran.
