US gives Iran 48-hour ultimatum: 'Last chance before operation against Khamenei'
As tensions between the US and Iran continue, the Washington administration has given Tehran a 48-hour deadline. US officials expect the Iranian government to present a detailed proposal for a nuclear deal within this timeframe. Otherwise, it is alleged that President Trump will launch a major operation that could target Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
US negotiators have stated that if Iran presents a proposal on the nuclear issue within 48 hours, they are prepared to hold a new meeting in Geneva.
According to Axios, the Washington administration plans to initiate new negotiations between the parties in Geneva on Friday as soon as it receives Iran's nuclear proposal.
A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated, "If Iran presents a draft proposal, the US is prepared to meet on Friday in Geneva to begin detailed negotiations to see if a nuclear deal can be reached." The official also noted that the possibility of an interim agreement could be considered before a final nuclear deal is reached.
'LAST CHANCE' ASSESSMENT
According to the report, US officials have characterized the current diplomatic initiative as a "last chance" given by President Trump before launching a major operation against Iran. It is alleged that this operation would target Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
