US issues security warning to personnel in the Middle East: Turkey is also on the list

The US Department of State, in a statement released via its official website and social media accounts, announced that it has taken various measures due to rising tensions in the region following the attacks on Iran. The Department informed its citizens and personnel in several countries, including Turkey, to be cautious against potential protests and civil unrest.

The statement emphasized that US citizens living in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Turkey should remain vigilant against demonstrations and security risks that may arise following developments in the region.

On the other hand, warnings for personnel serving at US diplomatic missions in Lebanon, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia were further tightened. Employees and their families in these countries were instructed to exercise maximum caution due to increasing security risks and to leave the country if necessary. Specifically in Lebanon and Iraq, the evacuation of non-essential personnel and their families was requested.

Regarding the situation in Iraq, the Department stated, “On June 12, as a precautionary measure, the US Mission in Iraq began the orderly departure of some personnel. As part of ongoing efforts to facilitate operations, additional personnel also departed Iraq on June 21 and 22.”

Furthermore, the US Department of State shared the necessary guidance links for its citizens in the Middle East to return to the US quickly.

The primary development causing the rise in regional tensions is the series of attacks carried out by the US against three of Iran's nuclear facilities. It remains uncertain whether the Tehran administration will retaliate against US military bases or other assets in the region.
