The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that US forces conducted a unilateral strike in Iraq at approximately 21:30 in response to attacks on US troops.

HEZBOLLAH COMMANDER KILLED

The statement noted that the strike killed a Kataib Hezbollah commander responsible for directly planning and participating in attacks on US forces in the region.

The statement, which indicated there were no signs of civilian casualties or collateral damage in the strike, reported that the US would continue to take necessary steps to protect its soldiers.

The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), a Shiite militia in Iraq, had announced that one of its commanders, Abu Bakr al-Saadi, was killed in an airstrike in Baghdad.

The Iran-backed group known as Kataib Hezbollah (Hezbollah Brigades) constitutes one of the elements of the Popular Mobilization Forces, which serves as an umbrella organization.
