Message from the US to 'allied countries': 'They should learn a lesson'

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine evaluated the ceasefire process reached with Iran during a press conference held at the Pentagon. Hegseth claimed that Iran was "begging" for a ceasefire and stated that the "Operation Epic Fury" conducted was a "historic and overwhelming military victory" for the US.

In his statement, Hegseth emphasized that US President Donald Trump "made history" during this process, while arguing that Washington had achieved "decisive superiority" over Iran. He underscored that the operations had significantly degraded Iran's production capacity for missiles, rockets, launch systems, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Hegseth pointed out the destruction of nuclear materials and noted that facilities in Iran are being continuously monitored by satellite. He also stated that the US has the "capacity to damage the Iranian economy within minutes" if it so chooses. However, in his own words, he suggested that Trump "chose to show mercy."

Defense Secretary Hegseth stated that "the mission is complete for now" and that US forces are prepared to ensure Iran's full compliance with the ceasefire. He also noted that military options will continue to remain an option in the future.

During the meeting, Hegseth stated that the US military capacity is being observed by many countries around the world, and issued a warning to allies: "Our so-called allies have seen what real power looks like. They should learn a lesson from this."
