US military announces: Iranian ship that breached blockade struck

A new statement has been issued by the US military regarding the naval blockade imposed on Iran. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that an operation was conducted against an Iranian-flagged cargo ship sailing in the Arabian Sea.

According to the statement from CENTCOM, the destroyer USS Spruance attempted to stop the ship named Touska, which was heading toward the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. The ship was issued multiple warnings and reminded that it was violating the US blockade. After the crew of the Touska ignored the warnings for 6 hours, they were instructed to evacuate the engine room.

The destroyer USS Spruance fired artillery at the engine room of the Touska, disabling the ship's ability to maneuver. US Marines then boarded the deck and seized the Touska. The statement, which emphasized that the US military acted in a measured, professional, and proportionate manner, said, "Since the beginning of the blockade, US forces have instructed 25 commercial vessels to turn back or proceed to an Iranian port."

IRANIAN PRESS HAD DENIED

US President Donald Trump had announced that the US military struck the Iranian-flagged ship named Touska in the Arabian Sea and that the ship had been seized. The Iranian press, however, had denied Trump's claim.
