The US Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a written statement regarding the matter.

The statement noted that intensive search and rescue operations were conducted for 10 days for the Navy SEALs, who went missing after boarding an illicit dhow carrying conventional Iranian weapons.

The statement, which reported that Japanese and Spanish air and naval assets participated in the search and rescue efforts alongside the US, included the phrase, "Out of respect for the families, we will not be sharing further information at this time."

The statement confirmed that the two Navy SEALs have been declared dead.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, in a message shared on his X social media account, stated, "We are mourning the loss of our two brave Navy SEALs," and thanked those who contributed to the search and rescue efforts.
