Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Gilad Erdan expressed his "disappointment" regarding the US decision to suspend military aid shipments to the country.
Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Gilad Erdan made a statement on the matter to the Israel Hayom newspaper. Erdan stated that the US administration's decision to suspend military aid shipments to Israel has caused great disappointment.
Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen also stated in his remarks to the same newspaper that independence in the production of weapons and ammunition is of critical importance for Israel's security.
Cohen said, "We do not need to wait for the war to end; we must act immediately to establish production systems in existing companies and create new defense firms that will produce weapons and ammunition."
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had confirmed that they were in the process of reviewing weapons shipments that were soon to be sent to Israel in the context of a potential comprehensive ground offensive on Rafah, and that they had suspended the shipment of some weapons while this process is ongoing.
