US President Trump: Ships are passing through the Strait of Hormuz at a speed no one has ever seen before
US President Donald Trump, while stating that approximately 700 ships are passing through the Strait of Hormuz, said, "Ships are passing through the Strait of Hormuz at a speed no one has ever seen before."
US President Donald Trump spoke at a program where he introduced a 400 million dollar Boeing 747-8 model aircraft, gifted by Qatar, as the new presidential plane known by the code "Air Force One".
Touching upon developments regarding Iran and the Middle East, Trump stated that approximately 700 ships were passing through the Strait of Hormuz, saying, "Ships are passing through the Strait of Hormuz at a speed no one has ever seen before." Trump added, "Oil is spread everywhere. You will see oil prices drop so much. I hope the companies are happy with this."
"Venezuela gets a little, we get a little"
Adding that the US has achieved many victories, Trump said, "We achieved a great victory in Venezuela. We are in a really good situation with the administration there right now. All the big companies are there. Oil companies are setting up drilling rigs. We have recouped the cost of the war many times over. We are in charge." Stating that Venezuela has become a very happy country, Trump said, "Because they have never made this much money before. Venezuela gets a little, we get a little."
"We got a little spoiled because of Venezuela, though"
Arguing that the US has the world's largest military, Trump said, "You saw this in Iran. We neutralized their entire navy in almost a week. All their air forces, missile defense systems, radars. We neutralized everything." Noting that the operation against Iran was also completed quite quickly and that some media outlets might argue it was not fast enough, Trump said, "It took about a week. We got a little spoiled because of Venezuela, but I can say it is equivalent or even equal to this operation." Trump added, "We have an agreement signed last night. They were given 60 days. They have to make a deal. Otherwise, we will do things they won't like. But I don't think it will come to that point. I think everything will be very good."
US President Trump stated, "If we have to do that, then you won't see oil coming out of the strait so fast. Because the owners of billion-dollar ships would not be happy with missiles flying over them. They wouldn't be happy with the waters being full of mines either."
"It is considered the most luxurious plane in the world"
Regarding the plane gifted to him by Qatar, Trump said, "We were a bit squeezed and waiting. We were waiting for the planes I call 'ordinary (Boeing) 747s'. I asked the Emir of Qatar, 'Can we use the 747 you just bought?' When we first heard, we learned that the plane had only 800 hours of flight time. This means it is almost a brand-new plane." Trump stated that he told the Emir of Qatar, "Our planes are quite old, we would like to use yours for a while."
Stating that the new presidential plane is very special and considered the "most luxurious plane in the world," Trump said, "It was produced at a level that will probably never be seen again at the time it was made." Trump said that the plane gifted by Qatar underwent some modifications and was "turned into a flying White House." Trump also announced that the old presidential plane, the VC-25A, made its final journey returning from the G7 summit and will likely be turned into a museum.
"I will visit Turkey"
Mentioning that he travels by plane a lot, Trump said, "I will visit Turkey. I will go to China again at some point in the year. President Xi is coming here in September, but I will go to China again for a major conference to be held in China."
"I asked President Xi not to get involved in Iran"
During his remarks, Trump once again thanked China for its stance on the Iran issue, saying, "I asked President Xi not to get involved in Iran. They get 50 percent of their oil from this strait, but I asked him not to intervene. And he didn't. Actually, this is a very kind gesture. That's why I appreciate it."
"We are trying to end the war between Ukraine and Russia"
Continuing his criticisms of the arms grants made to Ukraine before his own administration, Trump pointed out that the weapons and equipment provided to Ukraine during his term were paid for. Trump said, "And together with the Europeans, we are trying to end the war between Ukraine and Russia. I want to see this end. A lot of people are dying. It was reported last week that 34 thousand people, mostly soldiers, died."
Emphasizing that he sees ending the war in Ukraine as more difficult than he anticipated, Trump said, "Still, we will achieve this."
