US releases footage of operation against oil tanker
US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that a crude oil tanker used to transport oil from Venezuela and Iran in violation of sanctions has been seized, and released footage of the operation.
Following US President Donald Trump's confirmation that an oil tanker had been seized near Venezuela, a new statement on the matter came from US Attorney General Pam Bondi. In a post on the social media platform X, Bondi announced that a crude oil tanker used to transport oil from Venezuela and Iran in violation of sanctions had been seized with the support of the US Coast Guard and the US Department of Defense.
Bondi noted that the seized vessel was subject to US sanctions on the grounds that it had long been part of an illegal oil transport network supporting foreign terrorist organizations, stating, “This seizure operation, carried out off the coast of Venezuela, was completed safely and securely. Our investigation, conducted in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security to prevent the transport of sanctioned oil, is ongoing.”
“THERE IS NOWHERE WE CANNOT FIND THOSE WHO BREAK THE LAW”
US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem also emphasized in her statement regarding the operation that action was taken against the tanker, which was stated to be transporting oil from Venezuela and Iran to support foreign terrorist organizations despite sanction decisions. Noem said, “There is nowhere we cannot find those who pose a threat to our country or break the law, whether on land or at sea.”
FBI Director Kash Patel reiterated that the seized tanker was part of an illegal shipping network supporting foreign terrorist organizations and thanked all US security units that played a role in the successful completion of the operation.
