US Secretary of State Rubio: It was a one-time situation, it did not yield results

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made statements regarding the meeting between the US special envoy for hostage affairs, Adam Boehler, and Hamas while en route to Saudi Arabia.

Emphasizing that the purpose of the meeting with Hamas was to ensure the release of the hostages, Rubio stated, "This was a one-time situation where our special envoy, whose goal is to secure the release of the hostages, had the opportunity to speak directly with someone who has control over the hostages, and he was authorized and encouraged to do so.

And he did that," he said. Stating that Boehler's meeting with Hamas "has not yielded results for now," Rubio added, "That does not mean it was wrong to try."

"Our primary vehicle is Steve Witkoff"

Referring to US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, Rubio said, "Our primary vehicle for negotiations on this front is Mr. Witkoff and the work he is doing through Qatar." Reminding that Witkoff had traveled to Qatar, Rubio said, "I hope these talks bear fruit and all the hostages are released."

BLAMED HAMAS

Rubio also responded to a question regarding Israel cutting off the electricity supply to Gaza. "I feel that Hamas is not serious about the negotiations. They are still holding the hostages and the bodies in horrific conditions. They are insisting on extremely disproportionate exchanges," said Rubio, adding that for this reason, Israel is doing things that are in its own interest to force Hamas to make a decision.
