US Secretary of State Rubio offers 'softening' explanation for Trump's Gaza remarks
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that people will have to be "temporarily" moved to other areas during the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made statements regarding the Gaza Strip while in the Dominican Republic.
Rubio claimed that there is a large amount of unexploded ordnance in the Gaza Strip and that it is "not in a livable condition," stating that people will have to be "temporarily" moved to other areas during the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
Calling for aid from other countries for the reconstruction of Gaza, Rubio said, "It is a realistic situation that people will need to live somewhere else for a temporary period to repair such a place." Rubio did not provide a clear statement on whether Palestinians would be able to return to Gaza.
US President Donald Trump's remarks that "Gazans could be resettled in other countries" and that "the US would take over the Gaza Strip" had drawn reactions from all over the world.
