US Senate approves Trump's tax cuts

The bill, which Trump described as "big and beautiful," was approved in the Senate last night.

The bill was passed with 51 votes in favor and 48 against in the Senate, which consists of 53 Republican, 45 Democratic, and 2 independent seats. Republican senators Susan Collins of Maine and Rand Paul of Kentucky voted against the bill.

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer of New York stated, "Trump's policies are a disaster," accusing Republicans of disproportionately benefiting the wealthy with over 5 trillion dollars in tax cuts.

Republicans, on the other hand, defended Trump's tax cut efforts as an attempt to prevent tax increases for most American families.

The legislative package passed by the Senate also includes 175 billion dollars to support Trump's efforts for mass deportations as part of the fight against irregular migration, as well as an additional 175 billion dollars in budget for the Pentagon to strengthen the US military.

The bill passed by the Senate will now head to the US House of Representatives. It is stated that the bill could be voted on next week.

According to the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, which analyzed the tax cut proposals suggested by Trump, if the bill is enacted, approximately 45 percent of the benefits of all tax cuts in 2027 are projected to go to the wealthy segment earning 450 thousand dollars or more per year.
