US Senator: Netanyahu is a war criminal
US Senator Bernie Sanders reacted to the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address the US Congress, calling it a 'sad day for the country.'
Independent Vermont Senator Sanders, known for his anti-war stance in the US and his criticism of both Israel and the US over Gaza policy, made a post on his social media account X.
In his post, Sanders stated, "It is a very sad day for our country that Prime Minister Netanyahu has been invited by leaders of both parties to address a joint meeting of the United States Congress."
Emphasizing that Netanyahu is a war criminal, the US senator said he would absolutely not attend the session where he is set to speak.
Republican and Democratic leaders in the US Congress announced on May 31 that they had invited Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress to demonstrate their solidarity with Israel.
