US Senator reacts to Trump's Gaza remarks

US Senator Bernie Sanders has reacted sharply to former US President Donald Trump's statements regarding Gaza. Sanders stated that Trump views Gaza as a "real estate investment" and emphasized that the region must be rebuilt for the Palestinian people.
In a post on the social media platform X, Sanders opposed Trump's plan to forcibly displace Palestinians, stating, "No. Gaza must be rebuilt for the Palestinian people, not for billionaire tourists."
Sanders reminded that more than 47 thousand Palestinians have lost their lives and 111 thousand people have been injured in Gaza so far, adding that Trump is attempting to turn this catastrophe into an opportunity.
TRUMP'S GAZA PLAN HAD DRAWN CRITICISM
During a joint press conference held at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on February 4, Donald Trump had claimed that the US would "take over" Gaza and "own" the region.
Trump argued that the destroyed Gaza has become uninhabitable and claimed that it would be more appropriate to relocate Palestinians to neighboring countries, primarily Egypt and Jordan. The former president also stated that he wanted to turn the region into the "Riviera of the Middle East."
