US statement on Gaza: We do not support a permanent ceasefire

As the humanitarian pause in the Gaza Strip continues for its 7th day, US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby made statements regarding the conflict between Israel and Palestine that began on October 7.

FULL SUPPORT FROM THE US

Kirby stated that the US will continue to provide military support to Israel when Israel resumes its attacks on the Gaza Strip following the humanitarian pause, saying, "They have made it very clear that they intend to resume their attacks once these pauses end. As they make that decision, they will continue to find support from the US in terms of the tools and capabilities they need, weapons systems, and the advice and perspectives we can offer regarding urban warfare."

CEASEFIRE STATEMENT

Stating that the US does not support Israel's plans for attacks on the southern Gaza Strip unless measures are taken regarding the needs and lives of civilians there, Kirby announced that the US supports further extending the humanitarian pause, which is currently in its seventh day, but that the US does not support a permanent ceasefire.
