US to send 900 troops to the Middle East
Following Israel's targeting of civilians in the Gaza Strip and the subsequent increase in attacks on US bases in the Middle East, particularly those in Iraq and Syria, the US Department of Defense has taken further action.
US Department of Defense Spokesperson Brigadier General Patrick Ryder announced that approximately 900 troops will be sent to the Middle East to "deter a wider conflict" and "strengthen the protection of US bases." Ryder added that the troops will not be going to Israel.
"THEY WILL NOT GO TO ISRAEL"
In his statement, US Department of Defense Spokesperson Brigadier General Patrick Ryder reported that approximately 900 troops will be sent to the Middle East to "deter a wider conflict" and "strengthen the protection of US bases."
Ryder, who did not provide details on where the troops would be deployed, said, "I can confirm that they will not go to Israel."
Ryder stated that over the past week, bases in Iraq housing US troops were targeted 12 times, and bases in Syria were targeted 4 times.
