In a statement from the North West Ambulance Service, it was reported that 47 people were injured in the incident and 27 of the injured were taken to the hospital.

While the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service announced that 4 people, including 1 child, were trapped under the vehicle, it was stated that there was no loss of life. In a statement from the Merseyside Police, it was noted that the incident was not being treated as a terrorist act, and it was said, "We ask people not to speculate about the circumstances of the incident that occurred on Water Street in Liverpool city center this evening. We can confirm that the person taken into custody is a 53-year-old British man from the Liverpool area."

CALL TO THE PUBLIC FROM UK PRIME MINISTER STARMER

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also described the incident as "horrific" in a post on the social media platform X. Emphasizing that he stands with the injured and everyone affected by the incident, Starmer said, "I would like to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and effective response to this shocking incident." Noting that he is being kept informed about the developments, Starmer called, "I ask that we give the police the space they need for their investigation."
