Vote on Biden's impeachment process to be held next week
The impeachment process led by Republicans against US President Biden is expected to become official with a vote in the House of Representatives next week.
Republicans, who hold the majority in the US House of Representatives, have announced that they will hold a vote next week to turn the impeachment process against President Joe Biden into a formal inquiry.
Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson stated in a press conference that the House would hold the vote before breaking for the Christmas holiday.
The vote will allow for the formal initiation of an impeachment inquiry into Biden in the House of Representatives.
"A CONSTITUTIONAL NECESSITY"
Johnson remarked, "This is not a vote to impeach President Joe Biden, but a vote to continue the impeachment process against him, and it is a constitutional necessity."
The White House had argued that an impeachment inquiry initiated in the House of Representatives without a formal vote would be unconstitutional.
Republicans have leveled accusations against the US President regarding his son Hunter Biden's business dealings in foreign countries and their political implications, and have demanded that these connections be debated in the public eye during the impeachment process.
