Vucic announces they will arm

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic visited the Russian Center for Science and Culture, known as the "Russian House," in the Serbian capital of Belgrade on the occasion of its 90th anniversary. Vucic made statements regarding the arming of Serbia and its relations with Russia. Evaluating the statement by France's new Prime Minister Gabriel Attal that his country's rearmament would be a priority, Vucic said, "Everyone is arming themselves, and this is the case in our region as well. It is up to us not to fall behind in this. The only thing I can tell you is that we are not falling behind. You will see very soon. I will make an announcement with the exact date," he stated.

"EVERYONE IS ARMING"

Vucic said that Kosovar Albanian journalists asked the Americans about developments regarding Serbia's return to mandatory military service, and that the Americans replied that they were "following the situation carefully." Vucic said, "I am also following carefully what is happening all over the world. We are carefully following the US, the UK, France, Germany, and Sweden, everywhere. What you don't have to follow carefully, and what everyone sees and knows, is that everyone is arming themselves without leaving anything out. Isn't it logical for France to arm itself as well?" he said.

Reacting to the statements made yesterday by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, who described Serbia as a "protectorate of Russia," Vucic said, "Serbia is not a protectorate of Russia, nor of England, nor of the US, nor of Germany. Serbia is an independent and sovereign country."

"PURSUING YOUR OWN POLICY BOTHERS MANY"

Emphasizing that relations between Russia and Serbia are at a very good level, Vucic said, "Apparently, pursuing your own policy instead of listening to others bothers many. We will continue to follow our own independent policy when it comes to the Russian Federation and many other issues," he stated.

Vucic wrote in the visitor's book at the center, which he noted he had visited as a child, that he believes Serbia and Russia will establish much stronger relations in the future.
